What’s an SSL Certificate?

An SSL Certificate is used for encrypting information that’s passing between the server and user’s PC. SSL Certificates are required to be PCI compliant, and when accepting credit cards online. Without an SSL Certificate, communications passing between the server and user are open, and personal / mission critical information could be compromised while in transit without one.

The following websites are just a few examples of those that would use an SSL Certificate.

  • Banking websites
  • eCommerce websites
  • Government websites
  • Hospital websites
  • Lawyer websites
